Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Porter County engages persons 55 and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of the senior volunteers.
We have approximately 300 volunteers serving at over 50 not-for-profit partnering agencies throughout Porter County. Some of these agencies include Porter County schools, libraries, nursing homes, National Lakeshore and many more.
RSVP of Porter County is also offering beginner computer classes to seniors. These classes are for seniors who have never used a computer before. The class consists of turning the computer on, moving the mouse, and basic email.
State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP)
The Porter County RSVP administers the SHIP program (State Health Insurance Assistance Programs) which provides free, unbiased assistance by trained volunteer counselors in choosing a Medicare supplement, Medicare prescription plan, long term care plans and much more.
